Ballground GA Homes
Named for the ancient games played in this area by Native Americans, Ball Ground, Georgia is situated just north of Atlanta, and is in one of the fastest growing counties in the country. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, it was recently the filming location of the Tom Cruise movie Mena, scheduled for release in January 2017. While enjoying rapid growth, this small town maintains its southern charm, nurturing an invigorated sense of community with regularly held events in and around the downtown business district. Destination venues also abound in and around the Ball Ground area.
Businesses and civic organizations have strong support from the local government, which promotes such events as “Movies Under the Stars” and the Fourth of July,” “Fireworks and Trick or Treat in the Park.”
Tucked away in this understated town is the Hawks Ridge Golf Club. A refined, gated community, Hawks Ridge leaves nothing to be desired. From residential estates to guest cottages, the atmosphere is a throwback to a bygone era of manicured grounds, elegant cuisine, unhurried golf, and peaceful seclusion. Caddies walk alongside golfers on the executive golf course, while others raise their game to the next level at the Golf Training Center. Nothing has been overlooked in this well-planned community.
Also located here in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is the newly opened Gibbs Gardens. Hailed as on of the largest residential estate gardens in the country, no detail has been overlooked to make this a feast for the senses year-round. Hand-picked by expert landscape architect and horticulturist Jim Gibbs, the land chosen for the botanical garden is perfectly situated, now home to exquisite gardens, ponds, bridge crossings, and waterfalls.
Ball Ground is now one of fifteen cities in the Metro Atlanta Region designated as a “Georgia Main Street Community.” Years-long effort by leaders of the local government resulted in this achievement, meaning that the future establishment and revitalization of the downtown businesses will be significantly helped, through grants, expanded networking, and other means, in order to prosper and grow. The future of Ball Ground is being met with excitement and new ideas, while retaining the friendly warmth so familiar to small southern towns.
